FEMA panel meters from Series C includes the new Eco Mode designed to reduce instrument consumption down to 300 miliwatts per meter.
Activated Eco Mode allows the instruments to power off the front digits when reading is not needed. When under low consumption mode, the instrument still works on the background, keeping the measure of the process, temperature, current or whatever signal was configured to measure. Also the relay outputs, analog retransmissions and Modbus RTU communications installed are active and under control.
¿How do we know that the instrument is still working on the background?
While the front display is powered off, the instrument maintains a decimal point lightened in a soft flashing mode to inform that the instrument is alive and working.
¿How do we reactivate the instrument?
When the operator needs to reactivate the reading, press any of the front keys. When there is no additional interaction with the instrument, it will switch to Eco Mode again automatically.
Of course, in case of alarm activation the front display will power on and recover the standard brightness.
The usual applications for the Eco Mode are:
- Applications with multiple meters in the same panel. All displays are switched off until, in case of alarm, one of them is powered on. The signal is easily identified.
- Meters within a cabinet. To facilitate the operator to measure directly inside the cabinet, it could be internal temperatures, power voltages or critical signals. Using the DRA adapter the meter can be easily mounted on the standard DIN rail. The operator opens the cabinet door, pushes one of the meter front keys and reads the value.
- Remote applications with battery powered systems. The automatic switch off of the reading with the Eco Mode allows to highly increase the duration of the batteries.
The Eco Mode is a standard feature of the Series C meters. Documentation available.
