The grade of IP protection defines the protection of a device against dust or water. Specifically, for panel mounting devices, it means protection from the front part.
In the case of the IP65 grade, this indicates that the equipment can be cleaned using water, either wet cloth, spray or hose. Let’s see it in detail …
International regulations
According to the current regulations (IEC -60529) the IP65 grade is defined as the protection against water jet of 12.5 litres / minute flow, during 3 minutes at a distance of 3 meters (for equipment of surface less than 1 square meter). The afore mentioned water jet will be applied for 3 minutes against the front of the instrument, and this will not allow the entry of water inside. In the case that water enters, the quantity and location of the water will not cause the equipment to malfunction.
M and K series (now with IP65)
At FEMA, we have improved our M and K series digital panel meters providing IP65 protection. This improvement affects the front of the equipment, so that now allows cleaning by water jet.
The union of the panel has also been reinforced and prevents the passage of water. In this way, any internal element of the panel is properly protected.
The M series and the K series of digital panel meters are available for a wide variety of applications. They have models specially designed for process, temperatures, voltages in AC and DC up to 600V, currents AC and DC up to 5A, impulse counters, ratemeters, periodmeters, time counters and chronometers, and repeaters for Modbus RTU and ASCII.
